What is the difference between a TiVo DVR, TiVo Mini, and TiVo SmartBox?
A TiVo DVR has six TV tuners, so it can record up to six shows at one time and can store up to 150 hours of HD programs, or 1000 hours of standard definition. It also connects to the internet and provides access to apps such as YouTube, Netflix, and Hulu (separate subscriptions may be required). We also provide a voice-controlled remote with the service.
A TiVo Mini can be linked to a TiVo DVR and installed in an additional room to watch live TV or set and view recordings. The Mini does not have any TV tuner of its own, so watching live TV on a Mini will use one of the TiVo DVR’s six tuners. For example, if you were watching live TV on a TiVo DVR and two TiVo Minis all at the same time, you would still have three available tuners to record other shows in the background.
A TiVo SmartBox allows you to watch live TV and access features and apps of the TiVo service, but does not have the ability to record or watch recordings.
