I Have a Standard DVR. How Do I Record?
Your standard DVR includes two TV tuners. This allows you to watch live TV while recording another show in the background, or record two shows at once. If recording two shows at once, you must watch one of those live, or watch something previously recorded.
Our newest Cisco standard DVRs can store approx. 142 hours of standard definition programming or approx. 55 hours of HD programming. Older model DVRs, such as those labeled Scientific Atlanta, offer less storage capacity.
- To search for a program, press [Guide] two times. A submenu appears and offers the following options:
- Title Search: Input letters for a specific title of a program.
- Keyword Search: Input letters to search for actors, directors, or topics.
- You may also press [Guide] and locate the show in your onscreen guide. Enter the number of the channel you are looking for. Use the right arrow to move forward in time. Use the [Day >] button to jump forward 24 hours.
- Highlight the desired program, and then press [SEL/OK] or [Record]. A list of options appears:
- Record this show: Select this to record that individual show or episode.

My Standard DVR Is Acting Up. What Can I Do?
First, we recommend following the standard reboot procedure.
With standard DVR boxes, issues may arise as the hard drive fills up. Please note that the percentage displayed on your list does not include previous deleted items that appear in the Lost & Found. We recommend clearing out your Lost & Found recordings to free up space on the DVR. To do so:
- Press [List] twice. Select Lost & Found from the submenu.
- Press [SEL/OK] on a program you wish to permanently delete.
- Choose Clear show now and press [SEL/OK].
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each program you wish to delete. Each one does have to be deleted individually, but it may not be necessary to delete every single one.
- Reboot the DVR box and test again to see if any issues have been corrected.
