What is the difference between Pay-Per-View and Video on Demand?
Pay-Per-View is purchasable event programming available to watch on a specific channel at a specific time. Examples of Pay-Per-View programs include Boxing matches, UFC events, and stand-up comedy specials. You can find scheduled events in your onscreen guide. High definition programs appear on ch. 615; standard definition programs appear on ch. 900.
Video on Demand allows you to watch programming at your convenience via an included service or app with digital cable. You can rent movies at a one-time purchase price or access free content included with your cable subscription, such as previous episodes of your favorite series. You may be able to view rented programs multiple times within the rental window. Content is available in HD or SD. You can find Video on Demand by pressing the [VOD] or [On Demand] button on your remote control.
TiVo, Cisco, and Scientific Atlanta cable boxes are capable of ordering both Pay-Per-View and Video on Demand content. You will not be able to access Pay-Per-View or Video on Demand through a DTA Mini Box.
Please note: Effective 12/31/24, Blue Ridge Video on Demand will no longer be supported on Cisco or Scientific Atlanta cable boxes. Live TV service will not be affected. Convert to our new Blue Ridge Stream set-top box for no additional charge to continue enjoying Blue Ridge VOD and to get all your streaming service in one place.
Is there free content on Demand?
What movies or TV shows can I find on Demand?
Looking for a specific movie or show? Search Video on Demand from our website.
Newly-released movies become rentable through Video on Demand approximately three months after their theatrical run. Some independent movies premiere on Demand at the same time they hit theaters.
If a movie you wish to view is not available for rent, that may indicate a premium channel such as HBO, Paramount+ with Showtime, or Starz currently has the rights to air it. If you subscribe to those channels, the movies may then be available under Premiums on Demand or HD Premiums. Once those movies leave those channels, they may return to Video on Demand in the future at a reduced price.
Most channels include free content on Demand with your subscription. You can find available content in standard definition under Free on Demand or in high definition under HD on Demand > Free HD and Free Movies.
For TV episodes, not every episode of every series is available On Demand. You may be able to locate additional episodes by logging in with a My Blue Ridge account on the channel’s app or website.
