What is the Affordable Connectivity Program?
The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) was a vital initiative by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), offering a monthly discount on internet bills to qualified low-income households. Sadly, due to a lack of additional funding from the Federal Government, the program has ceased operation after April 2024, marking the end of its fully funded tenure.
Enrollment for the ACP concluded on February 8th, 2024. Participating providers, like Blue Ridge, extended this discount to eligible accounts, affording them up to a $30 reduction on their internet service bills.
With the discontinuation of the Affordable Connectivity Program, the up to $30/month discount will no longer apply to enrolled participants. It's crucial for affected individuals to be aware of this change and to consider alternative options for managing their internet expenses moving forward. I'm currently an ACP Customer, how long will I continue to receive the ACP Benefit?
On March 4, 2024, the FCC issued a public notice announcing the wind-down of the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) due to a lack of additional funding from the Federal Government. The last funded month of the ACP will be April 2024.
We are unable to process any enrollments or re-enrollments in ACP as of February 8, 2024. Households enrolled in ACP prior to the enrollment freeze date of February 8, 2024, will receive the up to $30/month discount through April 2024. ACP Discounts will be removed effective with May 2024 Billing.
Opting to continue service post-ACP means that households will be billed according to Blue Ridge's general monthly rates and will be subject to our standard terms and conditions.
