Help! I forgot my Master code.
User codes can be viewed or changed from the mobile app or web portal.
- Log into the Alarm.com app or web portal (at https://www.alarm.com/login).
- In the app, tap the Menu button in the top left. On the web portal, the menu is already visible on the left-hand side of your screen.
- Select Users.
- Select the user labelled Master.
- You also have access to other user codes and your duress code from this screen.
- Your code will display on this page. Tap or click on the code to change it if desired.
Can I set up more than one user code? How do I create a user?
You can add additional user codes beyond your Master code. User codes grant access to your home to family members, visitors, renters, cleaning staff, etc. You can narrow access by setting user codes to work on only certain days or times, or receive notifications when a code is used.
Please note that different methods include different controls over the users you create.
On the interactive panel:
- From the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Settings tray.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Advanced Settings.
- Enter your Master code.
- Tap User Management.
- Tap Add User.
- Enter the user’s first and last name.
- Enter the desired User Code you wish to assign, and enter the code again in the Confirm User Code box.
- Please note: You cannot assign a code to a user that matches another user’s code. Each user code must be unique to the system.
- Select a User Type, such as User or Guest.
- Set an Expiration Date for this user, if desired, to grant them temporary access to your system.
- Tap Add User again to create the user.
On the mobile app or web portal:
- Log into the Alarm.com app or web portal (at https://www.alarm.com/login).
- In the app, tap the Menu button in the top left. On the web portal, the menu is already visible on the left-hand side of your screen.
- Select Users.
- In the app, tap the + (plus button) in the bottom right. On the web portal, select + Add User.
- Enter the first and last name for the user, then select Create.
- Tap or click the Access Code box to enter a 4-digit user code. Select Generate Code to have one created automatically.
- Please note: You cannot assign a code to a user that matches another user’s code. Each user code must be unique to the system.
- Select the toggles next to Panel, locks, etc. to enable or disable the user’s access to those devices.
- Please note: If you do not toggle any devices on, the user will not be able to disarm your system to access the home.
- Select Save to save the user settings.
- Select + Add Contact to add contact information for the user, such as phone number or email address. Follow the prompts onscreen to enter the information. Select Save when done.

On the interactive panel:

- Tap the Edit (pencil) button next to the user you wish to edit.
- From here, you can change their name, user code, user type, expiration date, etc.
- Tap Save when done.
- To delete a user, tap the Delete (trash can) button next to the user’s name.
- Tap the Home icon to go back to the Home screen.
Additional options are available online from the app or web portal.
On the mobile app or web portal:

- Select Users.
- Select the user you wish to edit.
- Click or tap on the user’s name to change their name.
- You can view their user code from their user profile. Tap or click on the code to change it. Select Generate Code to have one created automatically.
- Select Panel to toggle access to devices on or off.
- Select Time to edit or set a schedule or access period for this user.
- By default, At All Times is selected. This gives the user access to the system at all times.
- Select Restricted Schedule to set the days of the week and times of day when you want to grant the user access to the system, such as to arm or disarm. Their user code will not function outside of this schedule.
- Select Temporary Access to set a one-time interval when this user will have access to the system, such as to arm or disarm. Once the set date/time passes, their user code will no longer function.
- Select Save when done.
- Select +Add Contact to enter additional contact information for the user, such as phone number or email address.
- Select Language Preference to set a language for the user.
- Select Delete User to remove the user from your system. Select Delete again to confirm, or Cancel to go back.
What is a duress code? How do I change my duress code?
The duress code is a code created in the event an intruder forces you to disarm your alarm system. Entering the code into the interactive panel will appear to disarm the system, but will actually send a silent alarm to the monitoring station, who will dispatch the authorities. You will create this code during installation.
You can view or change this later via the mobile app or web portal:
- Log into the Alarm.com app or web portal (at https://www.alarm.com/login).
- In the app, tap the Menu button in the top left. On the web portal, the menu is already visible on the left-hand side of your screen.
- Select Users.
- Select the Duress user. This will display the 4-digit Duress code.
- If you wish to change your duress code, select the 4-digit code and then enter a new one. Click Save when done.
