Help! I forgot my Verbal Passcode/Secret Word. How do I change my Verbal Passcode?
The verbal passcode, or secret word, is the password you will need to provide to the monitoring station when they call you in the event of an alarm. If you do not provide the correct passcode, emergency services will be dispatched to your home.
You can only change this verbal passcode from the mobile app or web portal. It cannot be done from the panel.
On the mobile app:
- Log into the Alarm.com app.
- Tap the Menu button in the top left.
- Tap Monitoring Settings.
- Tap Verbal Passcode.
- Take note of the information presented, and then tap Confirm to proceed with changing your verbal passcode.
- In the box labelled Verbal Passcode, enter the new passcode you’d like to use.
- Enter the new passcode again in the box labelled Confirm Verbal Passcode. The passcodes in each field must match.
- Tap Done to save the new verbal passcode.
On the web portal:
- Log in to the web portal at https://www.alarm.com/login.
- In the left column, click Settings.
- Click Monitoring Station.
- In the box labelled Verbal Passcode, enter the new passcode you’d like to use.
- Enter the new passcode again in the box labelled Confirm Verbal Passcode. The passcodes in each field must match.
- Click Update to save the new verbal passcode.
How do I add or change Emergency Contacts?
Please Note: You can add up to 3 emergency contacts using the below methods. To add more than 3 emergency contacts, please contact us.
On the mobile app:
- Log into the Alarm.com app.
- Tap the Menu button in the top left.
- Tap Monitoring Settings.
- Tap Location Phone Numbers. In the event of an alarm, the monitoring station will call these numbers first, and then proceed to call the Emergency Contacts. If you have a landline, it is advised to set that as a Location Phone Number.
- Enter a Verbal Passcode. Re-enter it in the Confirm Verbal Passcode box.
- Go back to Monitoring Settings and tap Emergency Contacts.
- Tap Add Contact.
- Tap your preferred option:
- Add from Phone Contacts to automatically add a contact from your mobile phone’s list of contacts.
- Add manually to manually enter the contact’s name and phone number. You can add multiple numbers for a single contact.
- Enter a Verbal Passcode for the user to provide to the monitoring station in the event of an alarm.
- Tap Save to save the contact.
- From your list of emergency contacts, tap Sort to arrange the contact list priority as desired.
- Please note: In the event of an alarm, the monitoring station will call your emergency contacts in the order they appear here.
- If preferred, tap and drag the three lines next to a contact to reorder your list.
- Tap Save in the upper right corner when done.
On the web portal:
- Log in to the web portal at https://www.alarm.com/login.
- In the left column, click Settings.
- Click Monitoring Station.
- Set your two Location Phone Numbers. In the event of an alarm, the monitoring station will call these numbers first, and then proceed to call the Emergency Contacts. If you have a landline, it is advised to set that as a Location Phone Number.
- Enter a Verbal Passcode. Re-enter it in the Confirm Verbal Passcode box.
- Next to Emergency Contacts, click +Add.
- Enter the emergency contact’s first and last name.
- Enter the Verbal Passcode for the user to provide to the monitoring station in the event of an alarm.
- Click the bell icon . Enter the phone number and type for the emergency contact, and click Done when finished.
- If you have multiple emergency contacts, click the Order drop-down to choose the order in which you would like the contacts to be called by the monitoring station in the event of an alarm: 1, 2, 3, etc.
- When finished, click Update.
