There are several scenarios that require the name on your account to be changed. Below you will find the steps that need to be taken to make any needed changes.
It is important to note that if changing ownership of an account, the new account owner will be issued their own Blue Ridge account number. This ensures all of your personal information remains private, and confined within your account.
Please note, If an account changes ownership a new My Blue Ridge account will need to be created.
Marital or Legal Name Change
Congratulations on your recent marriage or name change! The easiest way to update the name on your account is to provide us with an updated Driver's License. As long as the service address is the same on the driver’s license with your new married/legal name, we can accept this to process a name change. We ask that you take this information to your local retail center location. At that time, you can complete the updated paperwork using your new name allowing us to process that change for you.
If you are unable to make it to one of our local retail offices, a request can be made by calling 1-800-222-5377. We will mail you all of the necessary paperwork to complete your name change. You must send this back for the name change process to be completed, along with a photocopy of your ID.
My name is misspelled!
We're so sorry to hear this, we want to get this corrected for you right away! To update the spelling of your name, we would require an updated High-Speed Internet Agreement as well as a new Signature Card. These documents can be mailed to you, or you can stop by any of our retail center locations to complete them.
The account owner has passed away, and I'd like the account placed into my name (or disconnected)

I'd like to switch the account over to a family member
Before any changes can be made, please make sure your account has a zero balance. The Account Owner will need to contact us first to give permission for the name change and will need to provide the first and last name of the individual taking over ownership of the account. If you have mobile service, additional signed documentation may be required. Once we have authorization for the name change, the individual given authorization to take over ownership will need to contact us to complete the name change request.
I was given permission to take over ownership of a Blue Ridge Account. What do I do next?'
After the current account owner gives permission for you to take over an account, we'll need to ensure all necessary documentation is signed and account security gets established. You can take care of this in any of our Retail Centers. At that time, you can complete the required paperwork, set up your security information/authorized users and also request changes if needed.

I am moving and would like to change my account to the new owner/tenant's name
If you are moving out of your home, we will schedule a full disconnection of services on your account. Once scheduled, the new tenant/owner will be able to contact us to schedule an installation of new service/equipment.
Blue Ridge Mobile Name Changes
If you are an active Blue Ridge Mobile Customer and need to change the name on your account, we would follow the same Name Change procedures listed above. However, there are some instances where additional documentation may be needed. We will be sure to review this information with you when processing the name change on your account.
Please note, that if any line(s) are under a Device Financing Agreement, the device balance must be paid before the name change can be complete.
